About this collection

A digital collection presents global historic cosmetic items through the ages.  For the purposes of this digital library, a cosmetic item is defined as an item applied to the face or body, to alter and/or to enhance an element of or overall human appearance.

The physical items used to create this digital collection have been donated to the Museum of Fashionable Art by the late Anna T. Zeebar.  The great-grandniece of Charles Revson, the founder of the Revlon company, Anna was a passionate collector of historic cosmetics. The items seen here are digital photographs of her original collection.  Her complete collection of physical items, on which this digital exhibition is based, is currently on display at the Museum of Fashionable Art, April 2014 - August 2014.

The Museum of Fashionable Art owns the intellectual property contained in this collection of digital images.  All images in this collection are rights cleared for educational use, either in either a group or individual setting.
